There’s a few other music connections to some other films. Drake and Future are among the executive producers of Black Ice, a documentary by Hubert Davis about the role of Black players in Canadian hockey. Greatest Beer Run Ever, directed by Peter Farrelly includes Zac Efron (High School Musical, Hairspray, The Greatest Showman) and Russell Crowe (also a musician), based on the true story of a wartime quest to bring back a cold one to the troops in Vietnam. Ciné-Guerrillas: Scenes from the Labudovic Reels from director Mila Turajlic, about the Algerian War for independence, includes a first-hand account of Miriam Makeba’s Ifrikya, written for the Algerian revolt. Also, in the gigantic list of expected guests attending TIFF 2022 are Mustafa and Naughty Boy, but the TIFF press office hasn’t revealed to which film they are connected.
