Why you should watch: The classic, fun-loving adventure film gets a 21st Century update—not too much—with exhilarating results. Dwayne Johnson as the hunky, goofy tour guide/captain and Emily Blunt as the tougher-than-she-looks fellow adventurer have spectacular on-screen chemistry. In this genre re-fresh, “the Girl” kicks ass and there’s even a sweet LGBTQ shout-out. A popcorn-pounding pleasure, this makes for a perfect summer fun film.
