Like the archetypal whispering devil-on-the-shoulder, much of the series features the flight attendant in agitated inner dialogue, with her various selves all vying to control our out-of-control heroine.

Genre: Drama
Why you should watch: Chaotic, crisis-fuelled romp around the world with flight attendant turned CIA spook that’s as compelling as a train wreck.

As compelling as a train wreck, we follow Kaley Cuoco (The Big Bang Theory), the often-freaking-out titular flight attendant, as she careens around the world alternately chasing or being chased and battles bad guys, mysterious strangers and her own demons. Like the archetypal whispering devil-on-the-shoulder, much of the series features the flight attendant in agitated inner dialogue, with her various selves all vying to control our out-of-control heroine.

A steady stream of split-screen images and a staccato soundtrack that runs up and down the piano keyboard like jangly nerves all mirror the chaos that rules the flight attendant’s world. The quick cuts are reminiscent of ’60s spy capers, both visually and in terms of storyline, and the whole careening car crash of events demands viewing. It’s a cascading story in which each new detail seems to raise more questions than it answers and, like the disaster it resembles, it’s almost impossible to turn away.
