The director of Far From Heaven and Carol is in his element here, with an unsettling story of a woman at the centre of a national scandal and the actress who has been hired to play her. With an incredible set of stars (Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore), a dash of All About Eve-style rivalry and a ripped-from-the-headlines subject that is deeply relevant today, May/December is shaping up to be the most talked-about film of the season.
