North by Northeast (NXNE), Toronto’s annual emerging-talent club crawl taking place each June, has announced its first 100 invitees in a lineup that appears peppered with international acts along with top, on-the-rise Canadian talent.

Musical acts from France, Taiwan, Great Britain and the United States (including from New York, Texas, Tennessee, Florida, Pennsylvania, Utah and Oregon) — along with top Canadian acts from most provinces and territories — have all been invited to perform at the festival between June 13 and 17.

Invited acts include Charmaine (Toronto), Broken Fires (Swansea, U.K.), We Demand Parachutes (Boston, MA), Sorry Peach (Spartanberg, SC), Housewife (Toronto), The Vanrays (Vancouver), Blvck Hippie (Memphis, TN), Lynn (Taiwan), The Garrys (Saskatoon), Prado Munroe (Vancouver), Platinum Moon ( New York, NY), Flamél (El Paso, TX, USA) and dozens more.

Full-festival passes are $25 in 2023, with a free pass option for music fans who sign up for Neo financial services. Festival-goers who get their free pass this way will also receive a $10 cash credit for NXNE spending money.

“NXNE has never been more committed to reducing financial barriers for people to make and consume music than we are right now as demonstrated by our elimination of fees to apply to play, our commitment to paying all performing artists and our extremely low-cost festival passes,” said NXNE founder Michael Hollett. (Hollett is also the editor/publisher of NEXT).

“Our revolutionary partnership with Neo allows us to go one step further and offer NXNE fans a chance to attend the festival for free and even have some cash for a drink, parking or the TTC. It has never been easier — or cheaper — to explore the future of music at NXNE.”
