North by Northeast (NXNE) has announced over 100 new acts and a return to free outdoor shows with a Queen West day party on Sat., June 15, of the five-day festival, which runs from June 12 through 16.

Rising pop star Alex Porat, fresh from a recent sold-out show at Axis, headlines NXNE’s free lineup Saturday afternoon (June 15) at the Green P-adjacent Denison, between Bathurst and Spadina. Also featured are jazzy post-bop improvisers Lavender Town, hip hop/R&B duo Allydice, Nigerian-born Calgary-raised artist Dozie, electrifying rock band The Boneheads, British R&B act Vincent Darby, Peterborough country powerhouse Elyse Saunders and R&B songstress Luna Elle.

The outdoor show runs from 11 am to 7 pm and features a beer garden, vendors, activations, food trucks and more.

“We’re thrilled to be doing a great, free outdoor daytime show that brings people to the Queen West area,” says NXNE president Michael Hollett. “And we hope they’ll stick around and see all the great club shows in the neighbourhood that night.”

“We’re pleased to be working with Visit Mississauga on the show as part of our ongoing commitment to showcasing the great music scenes and cities close to the GTA. Over half the outdoor stage acts, including Alex Porat, are from Mississauga’” says Hollett.

The Festival also announced its next wave of acts announcing over 100 more performers for this year’s event including artists from Poland, Hong Kong, Ireland, the UK, Australia, Norway and across the US and Canada. Some of the highlights include: London, ON punk rocker Charlie Weber, Welsh Queer artist DONT MAKE THIS WEIRD, Toronto’s alt-rock and funk band High Flyer, Toronto indie rock four-piece Jane’s Party, Australia’s groovy songstress Jess Reiss, Toronto’s violinist singer songwriter Just Graham, Winnipeg multi-instrumentalist Lev Snowe, Canadian alt pop rock band Madame Psychosis, Brampton powerhouse SHV, Hamilton party rockers Sons of Butcher, dynamic R&B/hip hop force Tamir and electro pop artist Wolf Saga.
